Arkansas Festivals & Events Association Announces 2019 Award Winners
The winners of the AFEA Awards for 2019, given by the Arkansas Festivals & Events Association, were announced at the Association’s 36th Annual Conference & Trade Show held in Eureka Springs on January 30 & 31. The AFEA Awards annually honor the best and brightest of Arkansas’s festivals and special events. The winners and categories are listed below.
Best New Festival or Event
Eligible events are those still within their first five years; judging is based on the operation’s growth, uniqueness, and community contribution.
Gold- Yadaloo Music & Arts Festival
Silver- Arkansas Coffin Races, Benton
Bronze- Arkansas Pie Festival, Cherokee Village
Outstanding New Idea
Eligible festivals have developed a new idea, logo, event, festival, or publication during the previous year which added significantly to the success or popularity of the festival.
Gold- TIE- Toad Suck Daze, Conway
Beatles at the Ridge, Walnut Ridge
Vendor of the Year
Vendors of the Year are examples of exemplary and reliable services provided by industry businesses that contribute to the overall success of an event.
Gold- Wells Fun Company
Festival of the Year-Toad Suck Daze, Conway
This award is presented to a festival or other special celebration, which stands out among all the festivals in Arkansas, by its creative approach, crowd appeal, media coverage, and/or enhancement of community pride, thus benefiting the state’s quality of life.
Silver- World Championship Duck Calling Contest & Wings Over The Prairie Festival, Stuttgart
Bronze- Beatles at the Ridge, Walnut Ridge
Event of the Year- SouthArk Outdoor Expo, El Dorado
This award is presented to a special event which stands out among all special events in Arkansas by its creative approach, crowd appeal, media coverage, and/or enhancement of community pride, thus benefiting the state’s quality of life.
Silver- First Friday Monthly Market, Camden
Bronze- Arkansas State Fair
Sporting Event of the Year, Gold- Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout
A festival or event featuring or centered around a sporting event that brings recognition to the sport and enhances community pride.
Silver- Arkansas Enduro Series- Eureka Springs
Bronze-Gold Star Memorial Golf Tournament, Fairfield Bay
Promotional AFEA Awards were also awarded to top quality examples of festival and event promotional and marketing materials. Awards were presented in eight categories to the following winners:
