AFEA presents a fall workshop and an opportunity to go behind the scenes at MusicFest El Doradoon Friday and Saturday,October 2-3, 2009.Attendees sign up to shadow committee leaders for half–hour time slots on Saturday and are encouraged to browse the festival before & after scheduled programming.
Friday's workshop includes a Sponsor Panel, Using Social Media to Promote Your Event, Member 2 Member Question Session, and free time at the festival.
Saturday's Behind the Scenes features opportunities to shadow committee leaders in the areas of Adult Beverages, Arts & Crafts, Concessions, Entertainment, Hospitality, Kids World, Publicity, Security, Souvenirs, Tickets/Money, and Operations/Logistics. Festival admission and two drink tokens are also included. Saturday's breakfast is hosted by the South Arkansas Historical Foundation.

Learn about sponsorship from the sponsor’s viewpoint. Topics to be addressed include: How/when should you approach sponsors with a proposal? How do sponsors decide which events to work with? What sponsorship benefits are the most/least valuable to sponsors? Following panel discussion, there will be a Question & Answer session.
Using Social Media to Promote Your Event
Social Media is fast and free, and quickly becoming THE way to do promotion. Katie McManners, Director of Marketing for the Arkansas Museum of Discovery, has successfully used Twitter and Facebook to promote Museum events. She shares this information in an easy-to-follow session geared specifically toward festival and event promotions.
Member 2 Member Question Session
So many people have used our “Member 2 Member Question” feature with great results that we’re doing it live. Bring any questions or challenges you may be having with your event and we’ll discuss them in the group. Have any ideas that have worked well for you? Come prepared to share with others!
Saturday’s Behind the Scenes:
The South Arkansas Historical Foundation will host a breakfast for attendees Saturday morning at El Dorado's historical Newton House.
Attendees sign up to shadow committee leaders for half-hour time slots and are encouraged to browse the festival before and after scheduled programming. Registration fee includes admission to the festival and two drink tokens. First 10 registrants also receive a MusicFest T-shirt.
